Zeta Eastes (nee Matthews) was a ground breaker for her time. Born in 1914 in Ruislip she studied at UCH (University College Hospital, London) and qualified as a Doctor. She became a GP and with her husband Dr Henry Eastes had a surgery in Gloucestershire.
She was an accomplished pianist, a keen gardener and an aficionado on Mazes and Labyrinths (her father had a book published on the subject in 1922). During the 70’s and 80’s she bought a lot of Liberty Fabric and made her own dresses and blouses from it always including a “pocket for her memories”. Zeta died in 1999 and her daughter (a member of Peak Patchworkers) has treasured this fabric and the memories it evokes of her mother.
Now you too have a chance to enjoy the beautiful fabric used in this stunning quilt by purchasing a raffle ticket and helping to raise much needed funds for Helen’s Trust, a local Derbyshire charity that provide support and care for people with a terminal illness who wish to remain in their own home.
