A presentation by Professor Brian Edwards, University of Sheffield

Oswald Mosley and Diana Mitford married in Germany in 1936. He had moved from being a leading member of the Labour Party to become the leader of the British Union of Fascists with their infamous black shirts. Diana was one of the famous Mitford sisters. The pair were regular visitors to Chatsworth House. This talk charts their path through the tumultuous events of the thirties, forties and fifties. Their politics, intrigues and loves. Both were interned at the start of the war but released before the war ended on the orders of Winston Churchill.
But were they heroes or villains?
