What we do
Helping incurably ill people stay in their own home.
The trust aims to help remove the barriers that may be preventing a person from staying at home by funding and providing care and equipment. Some examples of things we have provided in the past are:
- packages of care which meet individuals needs.
- equipment, such as a stairlift to enable someone to be able to go to up to bed.
- transport to and from hospital appointments to enable the person to stay at home.
- in many cases it is small things that make a big difference.
We support anyone within our current geographical remit. We are not bound by age, sex or type of illness and nor do we carry out any form of means testing.
Why it is so important to stay at home
- Returning to your own home, even after just a short time, can be one of the most comforting feelings
- Relaxing in your own chair, drinking tea from your favourite cup or watching your pets play in the garden are simple pleasures we can all take for granted.
- At the most challenging of times these home comforts can make an even bigger difference to our beneficiaries and their families.
Everyone has a different reason why their home is a special place for them. Tell us why your home is important to you : email Catherine
2011 marks 10 years of Helen’s Trust providing support to people in North Derbyshire. A second project was also established in North East Sheffield in 2006 and the charity has seen referrals for support continue to grow. It is the vision and intention of the charity to expand across the whole of North Derbyshire and Sheffield over the next two years.
