RUNNERS TO GO FOR GOLD AS HELEN’S TRUST ANNUAL CHATSWORTH 10K RETURNS

After the success of last year’s event, entries are now being accepted for the 2012 Chatsworth 10K and Family Fun Run in aid of local charity Helen’s Trust.
The race, now in its fifth year, is popular with runners with 1,200 taking part in 2010 and encompasses a picturesque route through the grounds of Derbyshire’s Chatsworth House.
After a hill start, popular with fell runners, the route levels off to follow woodland tracks before opening out onto the moor top for scenic views and descending back into parkland.
Laura Mayes, race director, said: “The Helen’s Trust 10k is a prestigious race that has become popular in the running calendar thanks to the historic Chatsworth venue.
“Places are limited and we would advise those wishing to take part to enter early to avoid disappointment.”
For those wanting to set a more leisurely pace, the 3k Family Fun Run follows in the afternoon and also boasts views of the stately Chatsworth House. Participants are encouraged to run in fancy dress, with 200 places available.
Helen’s Trust is a regional charity which supports people of all ages who have an incurable illness and wish to spend the final period of their life in the comfort of their own home. Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Yorkshire has made Helen’s Trust their Charity of the Year.
